Health & Safety - Royal Environmental believes that the health and safety of all its employees is of utmost importance. The prevention of illnesses and injuries takes precedence over operating schedules and profit at all times. Royal Environmental provides comprehensive education and hands-on training in hazardous waste site operations including the OSHA, 40-hour and 8-hour HAZWOPER courses, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, project supervision, health and safety and first aid. Field personnel are provided with personal protective equipment, which meet or exceed standards established by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

The objective of Royal Environmental’s program is to reduce and eliminate the number of job related illnesses and injuries that may occur. The goal is zero accidents and injuries.

Royal Environmental's corporate strategy to achieve this goal is by doing the following:

Employment of First Quality Employees: Royal Environmental uses a comprehensive hiring policy that includes a detailed interviewing session, reference checks, driving record evaluation, police record, and a pre-employment physical including drug and alcohol screening.

Ongoing Health and Safety training: Royal Environmental's software provides monthly updates of physicals and training necessary for its personnel to conduct field work. All employees are required to receive refresher training on an annual basis to keep them informed of any changes or improvements to aid in maintaining a safe working environment.

Identification and Appraisal of Accident and Loss Production Practices: This includes a detailed analysis of materials and material handling systems to screen for potential hazards.

Communication of Health and Safety Data to Management: Information and data in safety reports are generated in a computer format so that Royal Environmental's management stays in touch with field operations.

Assigning Accountability and Responsibility to Each Employee for the Implementation of Health and Safety Practices: Each and every Royal Environmental employee is held accountable for his/her actions. By utilizing data that is generated on a project-by-project basis, management is able to evaluate individual employees based upon their health and safety performance and the field performance.

On a project basis, Royal Environmental develops and implements site specific health, safety and emergency response plans. A typical plan includes:

• A Hazard and Risk assessment of the materials present, and an estimation of airborne concentrations of site contaminants expected during operations.
• A review of the physical requirements of the work to be performed.
• A review of site characteristics so that an appropriate air monitoring program can be developed.
• An assessment of potential physical hazards including heat/cold exposure, noise, physical stress and other site related features

Prior to the start of work the site specific health and safety plan (HASP) will be reviewed with all project personnel, subcontractors, the owners or representatives, and/or regulatory representatives as appropriate.

Royal Environmental Corporate Health and Safety Program includes the following elements:

• Corporate Health and Safety plan
• Hazard Communication program
• HAZWOPER training manual
• Asbestos training manual
